Local ERSPC protocol foresees:

• Upon mail invitation (males 45-70 years old) randomization 1:1 to active screening or to control in the active screening arm PSA determination
• PSA <3 ng/ml: return to screening after 4 years
• PSA >=3: DRE + US-guided transrectal sextant biopsy plus directed biopsy to DRE/TRUS abnormalities
• Since 1997, more than 4,000 men have been randomised.
• The second screening round started in the early 2,002 and is currently in course.

  - performance of molecular staging in clinically confined prostate cancer
